Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS)

Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) includes Maricopa Medical Center, the Arizona Burn Center, the comprehensive Healthcare Center, the McDowell Healthcare clinic, 10 community-oriented family health centers, and an attendant care program.

Maricopa Medical Center is a premier training center for the nation’s physicians. Our medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and ob/gyn programs, in particular, contribute to the body of knowledge of patient care. Maricopa Medical Center ensures that health care is available to all area residents giving paying and non-paying patients access to top quality medical care.

MIHS is the health care safety net for citizens of Maricopa County. The health system services people of many races and nationalities who come from diverse cultures and speak several different languages. Many of the patients face major challenges, such as lack of health insurance, complex medical problems, and difficult socioeconomic situations. Caring for these patients demands special knowledge and sensitivity. MIHS is committed to giving culturally appropriate, sensitive medical care and helping our patients live healthier lives. MIHS provides care for all that enter its doors. Annually, MIHS has nearly 20,000 inpatient admissions and 300,000 outpatient visits.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Phoenix Children’s Hospital has provided hope, healing and the best health care for children and families since it was born in 1983 and has grown to become one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country with 433 licensed beds.

Phoenix Children’s provides world-class specialty and subspecialty inpatient, outpatient, trauma and emergency care in more than 75 specialties to patients throughout Arizona and the southwest region. Phoenix Children’s was ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals in all 10 specialties for 2016-17. Featuring six Centers of Excellence, all have grown in size and expertise to place them on par with some of the most prestigious of their kind in the U.S. These include Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s, Children’s Heart Center, Center for Pediatric Orthopedics, Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Through many community-based initiatives, Phoenix Children’s continues to serve children and families in Arizona by offering creative solutions to some of the state’s most significant health problems by way of parent action committees and health care outreach programs. These programs focus primarily in three areas: injury prevention, healthy children and families and health care outreach.
